“I don’t believe in Chronic Lyme?” said my doctor. If this happens to you politely get up and walk out. Square your shoulders and exit the room. This happened to me yesterday from a family physicians office. My regular PA is helping with the Covid-19 pandemic. I specifically asked for a doctor who treats Lyme patients. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I suffered for 12 years with Lyme and this act of cruelty comes right behind when I was inappropriately touched at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Yes, that happened but it was way before the "me too" movement. After that incident I was very careful not to allow myself to be subjected to doctors with no interest in helping Lyme patients get better. How could I let this happen? And this is where it starts blaming yourself. I did nothing wrong. When a doctor who takes an oath to do no harm yet harms you with words it is not your fault. The blame falls solely on the doctor’s shoulders. First of all even if he did not believe in Chronic Lyme you still have symptoms that could be addressed. Chronic/Late stage Lyme is never just about one thing. My current Lyme symptoms is mostly joint pain and my blood work showed the markers for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The man (and I use that term loosely) did not even look at my chart prior to my visit. His issue is not believing in Chronic Lyme, it is with his inability to treat patients. He has no skill set to help him navigate the complex process. He is uneducated and has no wish to learn. A medical degree is not all that is needed to be a great doctor. This doctor failed. This is not your fault. When this happens and it will, it is not a stop sign in your treatment but rather a “T” in the road. This is where it is important to become your own advocate. You are NOT alone. Don’t give up! You have the inner ability to get well. You can do it no matter what an insensitive doctor says or does. A doctor is a human being with flaws and insecurities just like the rest of us. Don’t let their projected authority slow down your forward movement. Get back in the game. Regroup and conquer. I have been learning first-hand about Lyme disease since 2000. It is always changing. What I do know is that I have the ability to order any test I need and I can use herbs instead of antibiotics which are often the preferred course of action. Think you need a doctor to get well. NOOOOO----SIR---RREE! Look at Nutramedics or Microbe formulas. I also like this site https://www.treatlyme.net/lyme-disease-treatment-guidelines. I followed Dr. Klinghard’s protocol which is what led me to achieving total wellness. (Recap, I had Lyme for 12 years. Lyme free for 6 years, did mouth trays to correct a cross bite and when my teeth shifted it stirred up dormant Lyme in my mouth which brings me to today) Many programs work but it is following the correct steps and treating the whole body not just Lyme that will bring you results. Dr. Klinghardt and I at the Healing the Brain SeminarBelieve in yourself. Believe in your ability to heal. Never stop believing! Reach out if you need support.
